My work as Balsam Hill’s brand ambassador in the past few years made me realize that learning is a never-ending process. My two decades of interior design background served me well, and I learned so much more along the way. Partnering with the company helped me take my skills to a whole new level, as working as a brand ambassador meant an extensive amount of designing in different settings.
When I look back at the many projects I took on for the blog, three stand out and serve as my all-time favorites. The first is when I decorated the Red, White and Sparkle tree. I was able to use one of Balsam Hill’s most versatile collections in this post and add my own personal touch to the design. I like that I was able to fully decorate the tree with ornaments without covering up the realism of the foliage. I also had the liberty to decorate the fireplace area and background with some the faux fur we were using the previous year.
Another memorable post is when I decorated my porch for fall and Halloween. What a great way to transform and give longevity to the outside area! I also love the versatility of the Trick or Treat pumpkins, because they can be turned around after Halloween to just be décor for fall. I think it’s a great way to show how to extend life to outdoor living spaces, and that different pillows and accents can spruce up décor inexpensively.
Lastly, I loved the Debbie Macomber post for her book signing event. It was so fun to meet her and understand her writing process. She loves family and Christmas, and is a great representation as her fans are wonderful women who want to build homes that reflect our values of bringing families together. The Random House event was also a great way to display all the Christmas trees and their versatility. We could completely decorate with Balsam Hill ornaments, or use different color schemes, such as with one that highlighted her new book “Dashing through the Snow,” using purple ornaments and embellished with our gold accents and ribbons.
I am so thankful for this opportunity to share my insights on the Balsam Hill blog and be involved in a thriving company whose mission is to bring families together. In fact, it is for this reason that I am stepping down from my role in Balsam Hill. My family is scattered across the United States as well as my husband’s and my parents. Not being under one roof or in the same area requires multiple trips often to help me bring the family together.
I wish everyone and their own families wonderful memories in celebrating the times that they spend together in this coming year, and many more celebrations in the future. If you would like to revisit my other projects, please drop by the Balsam Hill blog.
