It’s a Balsam Hill tradition to celebrate Christmas in July by giving back to the community. These past years, we’ve partnered with celebrities to help raise funds for charities involved in uplifting the lives of children, women, and the youth. This year is no exception, especially since the need to create sparks of joy is stronger than ever.
Share Joy
For Christmas in July, we teamed up with Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier to share the joy and warmth of Christmas to some inspiring families.
One of our beneficiaries, Jenetta Williams, has struggled to come to terms with the devastating loss of her husband while trying to raise her three school-age children during this challenging time. To share the spirit of Christmas this July, Balsam Hill, together with Kevin Frazier and TV host and style expert Lloyd Boston, came up with a huge surprise for the Williams family right at their front yard.
Kevin and his team worked through the night to bring some Christmas in July cheer to our second beneficiary, the Monroe family. This pandemic has been tough on children too, shares Melissa Monroe, who lost her youngest daughter years ago. Her eldest daughter Grace has been feeling lonely and missing her sister all the more, especially during the current situation where she’s unable to meet her friends.
That wonderful Christmas feeling was easy to recreate for our families with festively decorated Balsam Hill Fraser Fir® trees, along with oversized outdoor decorations and Thos. Baker outdoor lounge sets. Of course, the surprise included gifts. Each child received a tablet to support distance learning, one of the challenges they’ve had during this pandemic. In addition, Balsam Provisions gave a month’s worth of food products to help with the families’ daily needs.
Give Hope
We also celebrated Christmas in July with Hope Gardens Family Center, which provides transitional housing for homeless women and children. Kevin and his team created a white Christmas-inspired scene complete with Balsam Hill Christmas trees and décor, faux snow, and sledding. Balsam Hill also provided tables and chairs for use in the facilities, while Balsam Provisions donated food and supplies for the shelters’ 80 families.
As we try to stay true to our company values, we continue to find ways to share joy, build relationships, and contribute in meaningful ways to the communities we serve. For more about our past Christmas in July activities, visit our Philanthropy page.
