Day 3 of our Tastemakers campaign features Sarah of The Yellow Cape Cod. A blogger, professional home stylist, former banker, and contributor to various sites and publications, Sarah started The Yellow Cape Cod design studio in 2009. She built it with the goal of helping people create beautiful, unique, and practical homes. Her blog is home to posts about DIY tutorials, home décor tips, and much more.
Sarah initially partnered with Balsam Hill during the 12 Bloggers of Christmas campaign held last 2014, where she decorated our Fifth Avenue Flatback Tree with a “Contemporary Cabin” theme. The finished design was a gorgeous fusion of black, white and red colors.
This year, she decorated her tree using our Silver and Gold Glass Ornament Set, paired with beautiful vintage accents.
We asked Sarah what her essential holiday decorating tip is. She shares, “When decorating for Christmas, tap into your inner child to keep things from looking too serious. Try using unexpected elements to create a sense of whimsy. For example, this year I stuck real (naturally shed) deer antlers covered in glitter in my tree. They not only look pretty next to our ornaments, but they also lend a nod to the magic of Christmas Reindeer.”
