BH: What do you love most about blogging?

Maryann: For me blogging is a great creative outlet, and the wonderful bonus is that I’m inspiring others to be creative too in making their home something they love.

BH: Tell us a little bit more about your decorating style in general.

Maryann: I’d call it Classic Beachy with a bit of glam.  I love classic colors and styles—things that last through the trends. But, I’m also a California girl so you find bits of the beach in all our rooms.Plus, I believe every space can use a little glam.

BH: How would you describe your holiday decorating style? And how has it evolved through the years?

Maryann: Every year it’s a mystery.  I love changing up my colors and themes.

BH: What holiday decorating do’s and don’ts can you share with our readers?

Maryann: The biggest do is: do what makes you happy in your decorating.  I’m a big believer that it’s your home—do what makes you happy!

BH: Is there a holiday memory that left an impression on you from your childhood or recent years?

Maryann: Decorating the tree is a childhood memory that I remember fondly. It’s something my kids now look forward to.

BH: What is your must-have ornament or piece of Christmas décor, and why?

Maryann: I almost always use some sort of ribbon as a garland.  I love that it makes the tree look like a giant present, and I think it’s a great way to bring a theme together.

BH: How did you go about choosing your Balsam Hill tree and ornaments?

Maryann: That’s a tough question because there are so many gorgeous ones!  First thing is to think about the space it’s going to go and be realistic about the size that will fit there.  I love big and fluffy trees, so I went that direction.

BH: What do you like most about your Balsam Hill tree? How do you plan to decorate your tree?

Maryann: I love how full it is!  I’m pretty sure I’m going with a Rustic Plaid theme this year. Can’t wait!

BH: Are there any holiday traditions that you enjoy doing with your loved ones every year?

Maryann: One thing the kids love doing every year is that we bake some chocolate chip cookies, make hot chocolate, and then drive around looking at Christmas lights while listening to Christmas music. It’s such a simple thing, but the kids LOVE it and look forward to it.

BH: What can we look forward to on your blog this holiday season? Do you have exciting new holiday decor or party ideas?

Maryann: I’ve got some great holiday recipes that I’m planning, some cute Christmas decor crafts, and some great DIY gift ideas along with getting to see the house decked out for Christmas.

BH: Can you tell us in a sentence what Christmas is to you? (Christmas is…)

Maryann: Christmas is the day to remember the birthday of Jesus with the people dearest to me.
