With summer almost here, many of us are looking forward to outdoor parties, family getaways, and maybe even doing a bit of redecorating to keep our homes in tune with the season. Everyone has their own favorite activity, food, and home décor choices for the warmer months. To find out what those are, we asked a group of talented bloggers about some of their favorite things for summer. From pastimes to refreshments, here’s what we discovered:
Survey Says…
Most of the bloggers who participated in our survey love decorating with fresh flowers and plants, and consider them as their go-to summer decorating essential. However, when it comes to decorating themes, they have varied preferences – from beach or nautical, to garden and farmhouse.
Most of our respondents would rather relax in the garden or porch to pass the time, while a few prefer to go to the beach or set up an outdoor barbecue.
Iced tea and lemonade are the top refreshments for summer, while ice cream is the most preferred dessert. Also, most of the bloggers enjoy grilling chicken a lot more than steaks, fish, or vegetables.
Balsam Hill’s Summer Housewalk
For this year’s Summer Housewalk, we tapped expert home and lifestyle bloggers across the country to decorate their porch with Balsam Hill products and then showcase the results on their respective blogs.
We would like to thank Robin Gay of All Things Heart and Home, for hosting this campaign and gathering all our participants together. Robin has welcomed Balsam Hill into her home and will be taking part in this summer decorating campaign as well. Stay tuned for our features on the bloggers in the next few days.
My Summer Porch
To start off this series, I’ll be showing a sneak peek of my own porch, which I decorated in a grey and yellow theme. New condos were built next to us, taking away the view from all floors of our house. Since I lost some sunlight, which made my porch feel a little closed in, I wanted to bring in more yellows to make it a happy and vibrant area. The neutral grey brings out the liveliness of yellow, a color that not only mirrors the sun’s brilliance, but also signifies a cheerful season best enjoyed outdoors.
For more pictures and the whole story of how I used Balsam Hill’s Double Ball Outdoor LED Boxwood Topiary and Globe Café String Lights for my summer porch, check back on this blog next week when we wrap up our Summer Housewalk.
