Christmas doesn’t have to come only once a year. For some, celebrating Christmas in summer is a perfect excuse to gather and be merry. It’s a mid-year breather after a long and busy first half of the year. For others, it’s simply about recreating that wonderful feeling of Christmastime—from festive decorations to the joy of gift-giving.

Whatever your reason is for celebrating Christmas more than once, we’re here to help you channel the holiday spirit any time of the year. Read on and be inspired by how decorating experts dressed their spaces to create a magical Christmas outdoors.

Create a festive and sparkling summer entryway with Jordyn Smith of Our PNW Home

Breathe holiday magic into your porch this summer. Jordyn chose a pair of 32-inch Wintry Woodlands Wreaths to dress her double doors. This timeless holiday greenery features earthy tones with a silvery sheen, perfect for her neutral and modern home.

Then, she framed her doorway with two 6.5-foot Alpine Balsam Fir Trees and added another 4.5-foot on the left side. While going for symmetry is a tried-and-true style technique, the varying heights create movement as the eye follows one to the next. Also, she chose pre-lit, undecorated trees to match her home’s aesthetic.

Lastly, she added sparkle to her display with a pair of Solar Fairy Light Lanterns. Similar to how she styled the trees, she chose lanterns in two different sizes for a lovely contrast.

Entertain and celebrate in style with Courtney of French Country Cottage

Welcome family and friends into your holiday home with some twinkly magic like Courtney. Her vision was to create outdoor spaces filled with glowing trees, fairy lights, and candles—all under the stars. To set the scene, she draped strings of Outdoor Cascading Micro LED Lights from a pergola and a tree. This created a shimmering backdrop for her al fresco dining area.

Courtney’s Style Tip: It is all about that twinkle light magic for this look. Think of layers of twinkles for a lovely effect. From the lanterns on the ground to the candles on the table to the tree and backdrop of curtain lights.

Then, she put up a pre-lit 7.5-foot Yukon Spruce Christmas Tree. She wanted the ambience of twinkly lights to take center stage, so she kept the tree décor simple and sweet. She dressed the tree with white ornaments and soft green velvet ribbons for a summery look. This will also tie in with the table accents that she’ll use.

For an even more dazzling display, she added LED Christmas tree candles on the branches. Then, she placed a couple of Classic Fairy Light Lanterns underneath the tree. She also used several of these lanterns to brighten pathways.

Courtney’s Style Tip: You don’t have to feel like you have to go all out when decking the halls for a holiday celebration in July. Even a twinkling tree that is unadorned looks festive and beautiful glowing on the patio—so go with whatever works for you and enjoy!

For her table setting, Courtney chose a green check summer cloth. Then, she filled the center of the table with several Miracle Flame LED Candles of varying heights to add to the ambience. These LED candles are perfect for outdoor gatherings since they cannot be put out by the breeze. Also, they’re a safer lighting alternative since they radiate the flicker of real candles without the risk of fires. Finally, she completed her centerpiece with organic elements like fresh fruits and foliage cuttings.

Courtney’s Style Tip: Think French Country picnic meets holiday for your table. Use a summery tablecloth and fruit to bring in the warmth of the summer season, and clippings of fresh greens and candles for the holiday ambience.

In her backyard, Courtney created another setting for cozy lounging. She started with a tall Christmas tree as the main backdrop of the space. Then, she put up a small tree in a bucket by the shed. This time, she used colorful vintage ornaments to bring a playful mood. Then, she placed lanterns on the shed’s steps and along the pathway to the fire pit.

Another important element for summer Christmas festivities is the fire pit. It’s where everyone can gather, enjoy drinks and stories, and relax under the stars. To complete the twinkly outdoor theme, Courtney lit up the area with light strings.

Lounge in a cozy holiday setting with Tarynn Brown of Charlie and Bodie

Create a relaxing, holiday-themed outdoor fireplace like Tarynn. She started by creating a glistening backdrop with Cluster Micro LED Light Strings. She hung them loosely along tree branches for a draped effect. These light strings feature several display functions which you can easily control with a remote. In addition, they are outdoor-safe and have a built-in 8-hour timer. This means that you can set them to automatically turn on and off at the same time each night.

For a true Christmas atmosphere, Tarynn set up a snow-covered tree—a 7.5-foot Frosted BH Fraser Fir. But, in the spirit of summer, she decorated it with floral and leafy picks, as well as accents made of Capiz shells. Finally, she added some frosted red berry picks for a pop of Christmas color.

Creating that magical feeling of Christmas doesn’t need to come only once a year. Sometimes, a glowing tree and some twinkly lights are all you need to create a warm and welcoming space you can enjoy any time of the year.
