The Pendleton Wool Blanket

The Pendleton Blanket was launched in the fall of 2014 as part of our first wave of home product offerings. Made of sustainable materials, the Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool™ Blankets were crafted using a Cradle to Cradle manufacturing approach, in which efficient and waste-free systems were utilized. What we love about this eco-friendly blanket is that it was designed to become softer with every wash, without losing its vibrant color, keeping it looking new for many years to come.

The Origin of the Pendleton Blanket

The tradition of Pendleton Woolen Mills started when English weaver, Thomas Kay, set foot on Brownsville, Oregon, to help build and manage a woolen mill. With the extensive experience he gained from his job, Thomas was able to establish his own mill in 1889, which his daughter, Fannie Kay, helped operate and manage. When Fannie married retail merchant C.P. Bishop, the business experienced a substantial growth, thanks to their combined expertise in merchandising and manufacturing. The couple passed on their knowledge to their three sons, who then constructed a more efficient mill in 1909. Today, the family-owned business operates 7 facilities and 75 retail stores, with a new generation of Bishops occupying management positions in the company to carry on the family’s practice of being hands-on with operations.

Passion for Quality

Native American Indian blankets with vibrant colors and designs became one of the most distinctive products of Pendleton Woolen Mills, indicating their close association with the native tribes. The company eventually expanded to include decorations, beddings, throw pillows, and blankets in their collection, most of which are inspired by Native American Indian designs. Soon after, they started offering men’s and women’s fashion, all distinctly crafted with excellence–a mark that Pendleton has been renowned for for generations.

The soft and lightweight Pendleton Wool Blanket is proof of the company’s commitment to quality. It is a symbol of their evolving technology and expertise, with the aim of providing customers with the beauty and comfort they deserve.
