We celebrate Mother’s Day by arriving early at my mother’s
house. We help cook side dishes while my
father bar-b-que’s outside. We brew a punchbowl
full of iced tea and set the table with pretty floral paper plates and napkins. We say a prayer of thanksgiving for the
mother’s that are still with us and a prayer of remembrance for the mother’s
that are no longer with us. We enjoy our
meal as we share what has been going on in our lives since the last time we met. It’s
    always a wonderful time!

  3. Jennifer Herman

We start the day with celebrating my Mother’s Day, then we go to my Mother-in-laws to celebrate with her, and finally we go to my Mother’s to celebrate with her. We spend the whole day celebrating the occasion. 🙂 – Jennifer Herman

  4. John Herman

My daughter and I try to make Mother’s Day the best day of the year for all the Moms. We wake up and make my wife breakfast. Then we go to my Mom’s and we take care of her by bringing a dessert that she loves, and finally we go and cook dinner for my Mother-in-law and my Wife. We just want all of them to feel special! John Herman

  5. Katee Long

We celebrate first by making my mom breakfast in bed, church with the family, and games after dinner. My mom is the most influential person in my life, the person who is the most responsible for honing who I am today and the person who has touched, inspired and has helped countless people throughout her life. She definitely deserves to win!

  6. Jackie Mcmillan

We celebrate Mother’s Day by gathering at our 80 years old mom’s home. We usually will order dinner out so that all of us moms can enjoy the day! My mom successfully raised eleven children the old fashioned way, with lots of love and patience! She deserves the world!

  7. quilligan

I will be honest it is going to be difficult. My mother recently passed away so I was having trouble how to approach it. My heart is not totally into celebrating anything and I know that does not do any one any good. My family has plans not to focus on ourselves but we are going to help out at the Assisted Living Mother’s Day Dinner where we can help bring a nice time to other mothers who have no family around. It will be good for us all, children and grandchildren. Maybe we have lost our mother but so many other mothers are still here and in need. Helping others is what mom would have wanted anyway. 8. We cook breakfast for mom & grandma and present them with gifts. Then we go to the movies and bowling as a family. Then we go to dinner as a family. It is always a great day in my family.

  9. I get to pick the activities for the day and its usually a trip to the beach to have a picnic and let the kiddos play. I love the beach and any excuse to go with my family is good enough for me!

  20. Melissa Shaulis Mazzur

We celebrate by planting new flowers in out pool area! Then we take my mom for dinner!

  21. We begin the day by going to church. We have four generations attending the service and we celebrate our Moms, as we all know how important our moms have been in our lives. I’m generation two, and as my Mom is in her eighties, I am so thankful that she is able to attend, and be here still for all of us. We go back to my house to prepare a dinner. We all work together. It’s a great time of being together, as one of my daughters lives 2 states away. We take lots of photos, play games, share new recipes and revel in our time together. I especially note that my own children are growing up, and know that one day, not too far in the future that I will be the matriarch of the family. I watch my Mom…noting her gentle, caring way, and become inspired to work harder to be the incredible woman that she is. We cry a bit over dessert, knowing that the families must soon go their separate ways, but we smile, as we know we are so lucky to have each other.

We celebrate all the Mothers in our family. The Dads make the food and anybody above 16 makes a dessert except for Moms who get waited on. We play our own music from country to rock, with guitars, fiddles and too many other instruments to mention. It is a wonderful time!

  28. George Mossey

We are having a huge dinner at the house followed by a movie. We really love spending time with mom.

  30. Lisa Conner

We celebrate Mother’s Day by my husband and son first asking me what I want to do. Usually it involves me saying I want to do something with them–whether it be a hike, a mountain bike ride, or sometimes—even!—skiing at A-Basin here in Colorado, if the season extends long like it is this season. I don’t normally retreat on my own to a spa or a “Me” day…to me, Mother’s Day should be celebrated relaxing with my son, and the other man who helped me become a mother (we adopted, but stilll..he was in no matter what direction our path took us to become parents). On this day I am eternally grateful to be a Mom. Our path to it was not easy or expected, but it all turned out how it was meant to be. On this day I also celebrate by calling our son’s birth Mom and thanking her for taking such great care of our son while he was in her tummy, and thanking her for birthing him into the world so selflessly. That is my version of Mother’s Day. Simple acts of gratefulness; nothing too lavish…just time with my boys doing most anything.

  31. ginette4

We celebrate Mother’s day at my parents home with my sister’s family and this year my oldest sister is home with us. We have a get together at my parents, everyone chips in, even though it’s Mother’s day we still help the husbands with getting the meal done, it doesn’t matter who does what it’s being together with my Mom another year and getting together with the whole family that’s important and it’s always so much fun, whether we’re inside sitting around the table chatting it up or outside playing lawn games. Making more memories with my Mom is what’s important and no she isn’t allowed to help in any of the meal preparation, it’s her Mom, the best Mom that I was blessed with, the Mom that I love so deeply with all my heart <3

  32. Shanna Gilbert

I make a big Mother’s Day brunch for my mom and my sister-in-law. I like to cook so it really isn’t a chore. I love just spending time as a family. For dinner, I expect someone to make that for me.

  33. Sarah Coenen

We are a military family so unfortunately we aren’t able to be with our extended families for Mother’s Day. Every year we take a photo of my little guys to send off to their Grandmothers. Honestly, we are pretty low key. Lots of hugs, lots of kisses, a family walk and a million blessings to count always make for a terrific day!

Thanks so much for the chance. Your items are lovely!
    Sarah Coenen

  34. Erica R.

I take my mom shopping and spend quality time at places that are special to us. It’s sort of spontaneous. Nothing super planned, but we always have the most enjoyable time!

  35. lil_lady_dz

I take my mom for a spa treatment for some one on one time, then we do a little shopping, then I cook her dinner with the kids, and then my kids put on a little show they made especially for my mom and me, its like a acted out greeting card turned into a play, it’s really cute and they do it every year for Mother’s Day. They dress up and get props, its fantastic.

  37. My mom passed away 2 years ago from Brain Cancer. Since it was just her, my sister, and myself growing up, my sister and I changed Mother’s Day to Sister’s Day to keep in the tradition of celebrating family. My sister lives in DC and I am in Boston, but we always get together to celebrate my mom’s life and do something special to honor her.
May is also Brain Cancer awareness month, so it is easy to find activities that support the cause and bring the brain cancer community together in hope.
Mother’s Day has definitely been difficult these last couple years. Commercials and stores focus on Mothers, but we try to remember the true message of love during the day. My sister and I try to remember our mom, her love, and her spirit!

(I’m sorry – I’m having trouble logging in, so I will leave my contact info here!

How do I and my loved ones celebrate Mother’s Day? My mother, my sister and I visit my Grandma’s grave and we sit and talk for while. We then go out for a nice lunch and then to a movie. After that we go shopping and then out for a quiet dinner.

  39. Rebecca Mosbruger

This year as a Military wife my husband will be TDY. I will be with my two amazing boys and I am going to ask them what “they want to do”! It seems that once you get in the schedules of school, sports, homework the routine takes over. They are my most wonderful blessing and make me the mom I am, to me it’s all about celebrating them, as my best gift ever!

  40. Alex Cunningham

There are alot of moms in my life, and this year should have been my first mothers day but this year we will be celebrating by bowling and lunch with my mother in law and sister in laws and then by making dinner for my mom and her two best friends who are like mothers to me. Both of my grandmothers passed away on the same day 4 years apart. In the morning we visit them and bring flowers to where they rest. I know this year will be tough on me but I will certainly be busy celebrating the mothers in my life!

  41. My Flower

my moms deceased so i go to my hubbies moms

  42. peek-to-peek

My mom is 98 and in a nursing home in another state. Unfortunately I can’t afford to be there with her but did send her a couple of bubble tops, which she loves, and a hand-made paper craft followed by a card. Hope my sister, who lives closer, will be there with her.

  43. A very simple day together, nothing planned, elaborate or expensive. My 9 & 12 yr old ask what I want, and I say it doesn’t cost a dime, just peace and quiet (i.e. playing nice and no “Mooomm” every 10 minutes). I know when I have an empty nest I will miss that chaos, but for now it’s the best gift ever.

  44. My sisters and I would take our mom to San Francisco, and we’d have lunch at Boudin before walking around Pier 39. She lost her battle to cancer in October 2013, and I just gave birth to my first child in April this year, so now I celebrate with my older sister (she’s a mom, too) – I think our new tradition would be going to Starbucks.
I send cards and flowers to my fiancé’s mom and stepmom since they don’t live near us.

  45. Jann Olson

We have 5 children. For mothers day we always get together and have an outdoor cookout. Usually it is held at our home but the kids do most of the work. The grandkids love running around the yard and it’s so fun just relaxing and spending time together.

  46. kathy zeitlin

This year the childless female members of the family are going to cook and entertain all the MOTHERS in the family. There will be approximately 20 people attending and each mother will receive gifts. There will be 3 generations attending and will be hosted by 2 of the granddaughters. We are so excited to enjoy family time together!

  47. melissa sly

I have all my family over for a mother’s day brunch at my house. every year.

  48. Most of my family lives at a distance. My mother, who has Alzheimers, no longer knows who I am; I sent her a card and letter recalling memories, hoping some memory might bring some joy to her day. We mail cards, and send flowers, and Skype with one daughter and family. We will dine after church with the family of our other daughter, who’s a great cook, then play games with the grandkids. I enjoy being with family.

  49. This year we are going out to lunch and to the movies!

  50. I always pick a area that needs new decor and do that area with something new. So we all end up and my moms and eat (my favorite).

  51. I prefer a simple mother’s day celebration. Every year we cook pancakes and enjoy a leisurely breakfast, chatting around the dining room table, excited for the day’s plans. I’ve been blessed to be a mom for 25 years! My beautiful daughters have brought me so much joy and happiness. I’m very proud and honored to be their mother. I can’t imagine life without them. This mothers day, we’ll load our bicycles onto the back of our SUV, drive to the state park a few miles from our home, and spend the day biking and picnicking, then we’ll rent a rowboat and lazily float along the river. These things make incredible memories that no material objects could ever outshine. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms! Blessings~Lori.

  52. I am far away from my mom on Mother’s day, which makes it hard, but my kids & husband still manage to make it special for me. We spend the morning at church and afterwards they usually get me something beautiful to plant in the yard together.

  53. MaryBethT

My husband, boys and I go out for a long ride and then eat dinner wherever we end up ~ I love adventure and surprise.

  54. Jessica Grigsby
I celebrate Mother’s Day with a family dinner that my hubby prepare every Mother’s Day (sure it want change). My children usually make homemade cards, that I treasure and love and the reminder of the day/night is all mine.

  55. Lesley Maxey

I am celebrating with my mom tomorrow and then with my husbands grandparents on Sunday for a cookout!

  56. Rose Santuci-Sofranko

The most important way we celebrate is by going to Sunday Mass together.

  57. My husband and two boys are taking me to breakfast tomorrow. I am going to a Mother’s Day tea with my mom, grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt. Then on Sunday we will split our time between my husband’s family and my family!

  58. cassandra

We celebrate by going out for brunch. Last year we also did a little spa day! Thanks for the giveaway.

  59. When my children were quite young, our family encountered some really challenging financial times. I shielded my mom, who lived 1500 miles away, from the details—but she seemed to know anyway. That year, she sent my children a little cookbook and $20 for them to make one of the recipes for me for Mother’s Day. They chose a salad recipe. My children are now in their late teens, but they still make the same salad for me every year. I’m looking forward to eating it again on Sunday!

  60. Katee Long

My brothers and I will make my mom a great healthy breakfast in bed for my mom! We then go to church and have a BBQ with the family afterwards. It’s always a lovely day I look forward to to honor my amazing mother.

  61. We celebrate by being together. Its hard how times change, people grow and get busier. Its nice to know my family has a day to go be with Mom (and Grandma!) and celebrate how much we love her! And of course some strawberry shortcake never hurts. 🙂

  62. Aimee Randall

My family celebrates by going to church and then having brunch together. My son will make dessert (this year it will be coconut creme pie 🙂 and we will relax our afternoon away.

  63. jlafount

Might go out for a meal or get takeout which is usually Chinese food

  64. disqus_y1LggzqTBv

  65. We celebrate by having a meal together. My sibling and I give our mom a group gift. My husband and sons get me a goofy card and a much-loved Starbucks giftcard.
