BH: What do you love most about blogging?

Kristin: Creativity! I get to express myself, doing what I love, every day. Not many people can say that. While not every project is a success, I learn from my mistakes and strive to make the next project better than the last.

BH: Tell us a little bit more about your decorating style in general.

Kristin: My style is more TradChic. While I love modern touches, I always like to incorporate more traditional elements as well.

BH: How would you describe your holiday decorating style? And how has it evolved through the years?

Kristin: Regardless of the decor used each year, there is always a glam factor. Whether in silver, gold or some sort of glitter there is no better time of year to add a little extra sparkle (or a lot!). I used to decorate with large wired bows, but over the past few years I have graduated to a more casual relaxed satin bow. I love the simplicity of the standard bow against the array of ornaments and lights.

BH: What holiday decorating do’s and don’ts can you share with our readers?

Kristin: Don’t feel required to use the same exact decorations each year. Do feel comfortable switching them up! Even if you simply take one color ornament out and add in a pop of a new color to complement your home – it will look fresh and inviting.

BH: Is there a holiday memory that left an impression on you from your childhood or recent years?

Kristin: Growing up, I always had my own tree to decorate and loved that I was able to create my own theme for it each year. Now that I have a daughter of my own, we have continued that tradition with her. While I am decorating the large tree, she is in her room decorating her own. She gets so excited to show me when she is completed and proud to show holiday guests as they come to our home.

BH: What is your must-have ornament or piece of Christmas décor, and why?

Kristin: White and metallic ornaments. Regardless of the color or theme I use each year, I always have a collection of white and simple metallic round ornaments to fill my tree & garlands with. I like to fill my tree with these ornaments first and layer on the more special ornaments on last. This allows the sentimental or colorful ornaments to stand out a little more.

BH: How did you go about choosing your Balsam Hill tree and ornaments?

Kristin: I have literally been dreaming of a White Christmas for years, well, a white tree to be exact. So the Mount Washington White Christmas Tree was the perfect addition to our holiday décor. I love how it brightens our smaller living room, yet it’s beautifully traditional shape still makes it feel traditional. I loved it so much that I added the coordinating garland as well.

BH: What do you like most about your Balsam Hill tree? How do you plan to decorate your tree?

Kristin: Besides the fact that I finally got my white tree, I love the shape and fullness of the tree. Some artificial trees we have had in the past have felt a little bare. You could see through the tree and I would spend hours decorating to strategically fill the gaps. The variations of branch styles help to fill this tree out and provide a sturdy surface to hang even your most precious ornaments.

BH: Are there any holiday traditions that you enjoy doing with your loved ones every year?

Kristin: Decorating gingerbread houses has become a favorite over the past few years. I have learned to make a few as I quickly learned I enjoyed decorating them as much as my daughter.

BH: What can we look forward to on your blog this holiday season? Do you have exciting new holiday decor or party ideas?

Kristin: There is always a little something new in the holiday decor each year, after growing up with parent’s owning a gift shop with a year round Christmas Department, I got used to changing the themes, colors, styles, etc. There are lots of whites and untraditional holiday colors that will be filling our home this year. I am also doing a little holiday room makeover for a loved one, which should be fun.

BH: Can you tell us in a sentence what Christmas is to you?

Kristin: Not to sound cliché, but Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.
