Making resolutions is a part of the New Year. This is the time when we discard old habits for new and better ones. This year, extend your New Year’s resolutions to your home for a better living space for you and your family. You might be asking, why should you make resolutions for your home? Keeping resolutions for your house makes for better surroundings, giving you a relaxing, cozy atmosphere in every room. Resolutions also help keep your home clean and clutter-free all year round.

When creating resolutions, always ensure that you keep them simple and easy to do. After all, you’re committing to these resolutions for the rest of the year. And because they’re simple, you can even have the rest of your family join in on maintaining these resolutions.

Clean All the Clutter and Keep It Away

Once the holidays are over, clutter takes over your home without your realizing it. Often, cleaning the entire house in a single weekend can seem like such a daunting task that the mere thought of it dismays you. How do you keep things simple?

  • Clean up the holiday clutter first: Store your decorations in their rightful boxes and put them away in the garage, attic, or basement until the next holiday season. Tidying up the holiday clutter puts you in the right mindset for the New Year – it’s time for a fresh start!
  • Reduce clutter one small space at a time: Cleaning the entire house sounds exhausting, but it doesn’t have to be. Choose a small space to work on first, then go through the rest of the house from there. For example, if you spend most of your time in the living room, reach for that stack of books on the coffee table and arrange them in the book case. The next day, focus on organizing your closet by gathering the clothes, shoes, and accessories you no longer use and giving them away to charity. Do the same for the rest of the house.
