Throwing the Perfect Thanksgiving Party

Thanksgiving, that time of year when you gather with loved ones and take a moment to be thankful for all of your blessings, is almost here. Planning a huge get-together of family and friends, with most traveling across the country, is a big undertaking. There are decorations to be planned, assembled, and hung up; an exquisite menu to prepare; and of course, a delectable wine and bar list to impress even the most discerning of palates.

To prevent yourself from feeling too overwhelmed by all of these holiday preparations, it is vital that you separate the event into three main categories. This way, the tasks are all compartmentalized, allowing you to accord sufficient attention to every detail. Here are a few tips to help you get on your way to planning the perfect Thanksgiving party:

Décor

Proper party décor bolsters the mood of the space. Before you start decorating, think of the ambiance that you want your party to exude. For something elegant yet full of familial warmth, decorate with a color palette featuring warm tones such as orange, brown, and warm red; these colors beautifully complement most Thanksgiving menus. Contrasting these colors against off-white dining sets elevates the elegance of your gathering and provides a backdrop for your dinner table.

If you’re looking for décor rooted in casual sophistication, juxtapose brighter color palettes against autumn’s muted scenery; colors such as gold, blue, pink, peach, and green work beautifully to convey a more laid-back atmosphere.

Once you’ve identified your color palette, you can start assembling décor items to pull the look together. No matter what colors you choose, decorating the space with charming seasonal items, such as these Mini Brown Acorn decorations, is enough to highlight the beauty of fall.

Elegant Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Aside from preparing a Thanksgiving feast brimming with traditional food that will excite your guests’ palates, a Thanksgiving party is never complete without striking décor to establish the festive, heartwarming ambiance characteristic of this classic holiday. So accompany your savory stuffed turkey and array of delectable side dishes with a gorgeous centerpiece, and add an air of warmth and sophistication to your family gathering.

Feast of Fruits

Be inspired by the season’s fruits when creating this centerpiece. Head to the local farmer’s market and select from a range of autumn produce that showcases the season’s amazing colors. From apples, cherries, figs, cranberries, and grapes to plums, pears, and chestnuts, autumn’s bounty provides a variety of amazing produce to incorporate into your design. Consider selecting fruits or nuts that will create a beautiful play of color. Once you’ve made your selection, place these on a sturdy base or within a frame that will act as a decorative border, such as this English Boxwood Wreath. The lush green tones of this wreath create a color contrast that heightens the freshness of the produce. Once dinner is done, you may even serve the fruit as part of a fresh fruit dessert platter for your guests to enjoy.

Pumpkin Carving Ideas

Halloween is a wonderful time to unleash your creativity. From spectacularly ghoulish home décor to frighteningly fun costumes, there is a lot that you and your family can do to celebrate this holiday. Since Halloween is never complete without a traditional carved pumpkin displayed on your front porch or lawn, here are a few elegant pumpkin carving ideas you may want to try.

Golden Goblins

Update the traditional Jack-o’-lantern by incorporating gold lamé paper into the design. Dabbing the lamé paper all over the body of the carved pumpkin peppers the surface with gold flecks, imparting sophistication into the simplest designs. When coupled with a lighted candle placed inside, the flecks add an attractive shimmer for a luminous yet spooky effect.

Stenciled Images

Depart from the usual ghoulish faces and carve beautiful images on your pumpkin instead. With the help of stencils, you can carve breathtaking silhouettes that cast artistic shadows upon your home’s exterior. These interesting masterpieces add a striking visual element that will enchant your guests.
