Balsam Hill: 2016 Year in Review
We’ve bid our farewells to another exciting year and welcome 2017 with open arms. The past 12 months were full of milestones and events that made this year more meaningful and fulfilling for us.
Join us as we go over the highlights of Balsam Hill’s 2016 journey and what made it so memorable.
2016 was truly a milestone for Balsam Hill, as we marked our 10th anniversary. We made our celebration more special by collaborating with Macy’s and participating in their annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was the perfect way to commemorate our decade-long journey: with the exquisitely crafted “Deck the Halls” float, embodying all the holiday traditions we hold dear.
One of our goals is to provide picture-perfect moments and the 2016 Country Music Awards show was no exception. The Christmas-themed event was the perfect stage to showcase our realistic trees and embellishments. Our team worked tirelessly for a whole week to achieve this look reminiscent of a glittering woodland forest, complete with piles of gifts and stalwart nutcracker soldiers standing at attention close by.
For the third year in a row, we held our tree lot event at our Burlingame location. Hosted by acclaimed floral designer Brad Schmidt and our brand ambassador Courtney, the Insider Showcase was a fun night spent with bloggers, with a workshop and a friendly wreath-decorating competition spicing up the evening. The festivities concluded with a raffle, and our newfound friends were able to take their decorated wreaths home.
2016 was also the year for exciting housewalks and collaborations. We kicked off our blogger partnerships by holding a meaningful Mother’s Day Brunch blog hop, where a group of talented ladies, along with our previous brand ambassador Dagmar, styled their tablescapes with our floral arrangements. They also shared their favorite insights and memories of motherhood that added a heartwarming sense of nostalgia to the project.
We joyfully welcomed the summer with our Light Up the Night housewalk. We were joined by our new brand ambassador, Courtney, and 10 lovely bloggers who all gave us a peek at their decorated homes for the warm summer evenings using our pre-lit décor, fire pit, and string lights.
Autumn is acknowledged as a time of change, and our blogger collaborators took advantage of an abundance of vibrant greenery and accents in warm earth tones to reflect that. Our Fall in Love project featured living spaces and porches adorned with beautiful autumnal foliage and decorations to welcome the transition in seasons, as styled by Courtney and 5 skilled bloggers.
The Bewitching Halloween blog hop was our chance to expand our decorating horizons and go beyond the typical spooky or scary décor this event is known for. Using our whimsical and colorful Halloween products, 6 bloggers, including our brand ambassador Courtney, created fun and family-friendly displays that embraced the exuberant spirit of the occasion.
We wanted to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a special project, and thus the Tastemakers housewalk was born. We invited 9 of our favorite bloggers to join us and embellish their trees with our decorating collections, which resulted in beautiful evergreens that ranged from traditional to contemporary to whimsical. This housewalk is a testament to how Christmas displays can make holidays more memorable and beautiful.
Balsam Hill Gives Back
2016 wouldn’t be complete without a chance to give back to the community and to share the blessings we are so thankful for. Our annual Christmas in July project allowed us to contribute to one of the worthiest causes around – seeing the beauty in a child’s smile. We collaborated with Operation Smile, an international organization that seeks to provide children with facial deformities around the world with a better future, and Balsam Hill is proud to partner with them in their mission.
In keeping with the spirit of the Christmas season, Balsam Hill also helped various charities in our annual Winter Charity project. This year, we partnered with Operation Smile, Point Hope, and World Vision – wonderful organizations that seek to provide brighter smiles, to save lives, and to simply make the world a better place – all goals that we wholeheartedly support.
2016 was a year of memorable events, exciting milestones, and great partnerships, made even better since we spent the whole journey with you – and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for spending 2016 with us, and we’re looking forward to the year to come!by
