The Perfect Ornament Backdrop for your DIY Winter Wedding
Play on the beauty of the season by making a stunning DIY winter wedding photo backdrop with Balsam Hill ornaments. The ornaments quickly come together in one dazzling design and put an innovative twist on the traditional photobooth. It’s a creative, contemporary spin on those pendants that I hold so dear, and will create photos that you and your loved ones will cherish for years, as well.
What You Need
- Balsam Hill Ornaments – We used a combination of the Woodland Ornament Set, the Silver Mercury Glass Ornaments, and winter frost- themed ornaments.
- 4 x 4 Wooden Backdrop
- Chalk Paint – We used FolkArt Home Decor Chalk in Glacier
- Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive
- Calk Gun
- Scissors, Paper, and Pencil
Paint the backdrop board a solid color. We used a light blue to go with the wedding theme of icey tones and neutrals.
Cut an oval out of your paper, large enough to serve as your framed area. Measure the center, from top to bottom and side to side. Use these to align your stenciled pattern. Trace with a pencil, but be careful to not draw inside the oval.
Time to start planning out your design! You can of course use our design, but don’t be afraid to make up your own. You really can’t go wrong with such an amazing set of ornamants.
Once you have your design all planned out, use construction adhesive to glue the ornaments down. Start from the top center and work your way around making sure everything is aligned.
Now that you see just how easy it is, try making one for yourself! Or perhaps for a friend or family member who is getting married. Contributing handmade decor, especially in the form of an ornament backdrop, is one of the most special wedding gifts you can give – and one that they will treasure forever. Plus, it’s both something new and something blue 🙂 Perfect!
