Spooked by the Holidays? Divide and Conquer: Tackling Holiday Decorations One Room at a Time

Dealing with holiday decorations can seem pretty daunting at first. Don’t fret! The key to holiday decorating success is this: Divide and Conquer.  Tackle holiday decorations one room at a time and soon your home will undergo a beautiful transformation!

Here are some tips to help you start:

  1. Decide on a Theme: Decide on the overall theme that you want to use and how much you’re willing to spend for it. Each room should reflect your chosen theme. A good tip would be to select a specific color scheme and use that in the holiday decorations that go into each room.
  2. Designate a Focal Point: Determine which room should get the most elaborate decorations and designate it as the focal point.  If you designate the living room as the focal point of your home, place your favorite decorations and artificial Christmas tree there! After doing that, work your way outward. You won’t need to go all-out in the other rooms, just use decorative pieces that reflect the theme and color scheme you chose.
  3. Get Organized: This is the time you’ll need to get organized! After choosing items that should go to each room, put them into storage boxes or bags. Do try to use the boxes or bags sent by the manufacturer of the items. For example, Balsam Hill’s artificial Christmas trees come with their own storage bags, which are better to use since they’re made specifically to store those items. Label these according to which area they need to go to (like the living room, dining room or foyer).  It’ll be a cinch to decorate next time since you’ve already organized everything!

So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and work your holiday magic, one room at a time. Happy decorating!
